Role Details

  • Up to £16,071 (£25,000 FTE)
  • Permanent/Part Time (22.5 Hours Per Week)

Please note, we can offer a variety of shift patterns to suit (please note, all shift patterns are Monday to Friday) - please state your interest on application.

  • 8am - 12.30pm
  • 12:30pm - 5pm
  • Rotating Week A: 8am - 12.30pm, Week B: 12:30pm - 5pm

What you'll be doing

You will be responsible for providing exceptional front of house service in our newly refurbished state-of-the-art building in Stevenage. As the first point of contact for visitors and callers, you will deliver a consistently high-end experience and act as an ambassador for the IET. Your responsibilities will include greeting visitors, managing call screening and transfers, providing security for the main entrance, and maintaining a well-presented reception area. Additionally, you will support the Membership Managers with administrative tasks as and when required, ensuring compliance with data protection and PCIDSS legislation.

What we hope you can bring to the role

We are seeking a Concierge with experience in a receptionist or front of house role. You should have a proven track record of providing excellent customer service and managing multiple tasks efficiently. Strong communication skills, both written and oral, are essential, as is the ability to collaborate and work well with others. Additionally, you should be confident in dealing with people at all levels. Strong administration skills, attention to detail, and proficiency in IT, particularly Microsoft Office and databases, are also required.

A little more about the role

  • Provide a warm welcoming experience to visitors and arrange for them to be met by their host.
  • Ensure visitors are signed in and out by issuing a visitor access card.
  • Answer and transfer calls to the correct departments using call screening.
  • Have a good general knowledge of the IET to signpost queries accurately.
  • Provide regular updates to visitors if their hosts are delayed and offer refreshments.
  • Be familiar with the locations of departments in the building and key contacts.
  • Ensure the security of main doors and prevent unauthorized access.
  • Maintain a well-presented and welcoming entrance and reception area, reporting any issues to facilities for quick resolution.
  • Act as the point of contact for emergency calls for First Aid response.
  • Provide professional greeting and monitoring of the car park barrier.
  • Ensure cover is maintained on an agreed rota basis.
  • Deliver customer care excellence in all transactions.
  • Support Membership Managers with administrative tasks such as managing returned post.
  • Carry out all call and email tasks to a high standard and within service levels.
  • Comply with data protection and PCIDSS legislation.
  • Act as fire marshal for the reception area.

A little more about what we're looking for

  • Experience in a reception/concierge or front of house role is essential.
  • Clear, confident, and professional telephone and communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to deal with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Excellent administration customer service skills, with the ability to organise and prioritise your own workload and work on your own initiative as well as being a team player across multiple teams.
  • Excellent attention to detail, able to work to a high level of accuracy.
  • Strong Microsoft Office and data entry skills;
  • Pro-active and enthusiastic with a can-do?attitude.
