I am working with a client who are a manufacturer of bespoke capital equipment, as the Technical Sales Manager you will own all sales and estimating activities for Engineering, as well as manage all spares sales activities.

Contribute actively to the overall company strategy, direction, and operational goals as part of the management team.

You will take the lead on developing sales strategies for products and bespoke capital equipment projects; as well as lead and support bespoke capital equipment and services sales by building estimates and technical proposals for global sales teams.

Job Description

  • Own and maintain the standard products catalogue pricing tool.
  • Work with the Engineering team to produce comprehensive proposal/quotation documents in line with customer requirements and applicable regulations.
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates for all equipment elements and assemble these into a total project costing.
  • Maintain electronic records of detailed project costings.
  • Manage order entry system and sales administration systems.
  • Liaise with suppliers to obtain price, availability, and product information.
  • Negotiate pricing and contractual terms to ensure optimum margins and positive business cash flow.
  • Manage the Spares and Services team to deliver efficient aftermarket support.
  • Provide excellent customer service to all internal and external customers.
  • Act accountably and handle customer complaints and concerns effectively, escalating when necessary.
  • Manage personal workload in accordance with priorities and timescales as agreed with the manager.
  • Assist in the development of standardized methods, tools, and documentation manuals to improve cost estimation and proposal production.

Technical Sales Manager

Qualifications:

  • Qualified to a minimum HNC in Engineering.
  • 10+ years of experience in process manufacturing, special purpose machinery, or similar manufacturing environment.
  • 5+ years of experience in a sales executive role.
  • 3+ years of experience in people management, preferably in an engineering environment.
  • Extensive technical, commercial sales, and cost estimation experience.
  • Strong experience in understanding and interpreting client specifications/requirements.
  • Client/Supplier management experience in a technical/commercial environment.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD 2D design package or similar.
  • Proficient in MS Office and competent in MS Project.
  • Flexible and proactive personality with a keenness to learn and develop both personally and professionally.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, good communication skills, and a positive and assertive attitude.
  • Strong team leadership skills and experience.
