Reed are acting on behalf of a long standing client who are seeking a dedicated Accountant to handle their general accounting and tax activities in the UK and the Netherlands. This role involves a broad range of responsibilities including accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), cash receipts, general ledger analysis/reconciliation, financial analysis, and tax advice. The position is based in London and offers a hybrid working arrangement.

Day to Day of the Role:

  • Process AR and AP invoices, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Manage customer and vendor portals, including setup and query resolution.
  • Prepare reports for HMRC and Belastingdienst, including VAT UK, VAT NL, ESL, Intrastat Arrivals, and Dispatches.
  • Provide tax advice on new deals billed or shipped outside the UK.
  • Claim customer rebates and work closely with Account Managers to advise on potential deal issues.
  • Troubleshoot various levels of sales operations, invoicing, deal creation, and portal issues.
  • Verify and accurately apply cash receipts to customer accounts.
  • Maintain organized documentation for internal and external controls.
  • Resolve accounting discrepancies and ensure timely and accurate posting of receipts and payments.
  • Adhere to departmental policies, quality assurance programs, and safety standards.
  • Provide ad hoc reporting and support for various accounts as needed by management.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Minimum of five years of experience in Indirect Tax, AR, AP, cash receipts, and reconciliation.
  • Accounting degree preferred but not essential; training provided.
  • Knowledge of Dutch is advantageous but not essential.
  • Proficient in Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Familiarity with general accounting procedures.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work efficiently under pressure.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
