Our client an exciting payments fintech, are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Commercial Legal Officer / Data Protection Officer (DPO) to join their team. This role offers a competitive salary up to £60K and can be done remotely with a few days working in the office per month.
This dual role involves overseeing all legal aspects of their commercial operations and ensuring compliance with data protection laws and regulations. The ideal candidate will possess a strong legal background, particularly in commercial law within the payments industry, and have substantial knowledge of data protection practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial contracts, including merchant agreements, partnership agreements, and technology service agreements.
- Provide legal advice and support to various departments on commercial and operational matters related to payments and financial services.
- Assist in the development and implementation of company policies and procedures to ensure legal compliance within the payments industry.
- Ensure the company's compliance with applicable data protection laws, including GDPR, CCPA, and other relevant regulations, specifically within the context of payments and financial services.
- Develop, implement, and maintain data protection policies and procedures tailored to the payments industry.
Key Requirements:
- Experience in a commercial legal role, with at least 2 years focusing on data protection within the payments or industry.
- Knowledge of data protection laws and regulations, including GDPR, particularly as they apply to payments.
- Strong commercial acumen and the ability to negotiate and draft complex contracts related to payments.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
- High level of integrity and professional ethics.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
