Are you a competent Fire Engineer based in NW, SW, Midlands, London or the M4 Corridor and looking for a new challenge?

As Senior Fire Engineer within our busy Fire Engineering team, you will have project management responsibilities for the delivery of fire engineering and other building risk management projects, within the full RIBA Work Stages and existing buildings and legacy portfolios. Working with colleagues, you will design, communicate, and document fire engineering projects and interface closely with the client's design team. Working across a variety of sectors you will quickly have the opportunity to assume greater levels of responsibility and autonomy enhancing the development of your skills and experience. You will be involved in delivering design fire strategy projects within a variety of building portfolios and due to the nature of the FCS-live business, be able to technically support the fire risk assessment workstream.

Core responsibilities:

  • Management of own projects with technical support from peers as necessary ? Writing and contributing to fee proposals
  • Supervision of colleague Fire Engineers
  • Review technical documents and fire strategies prepared by others
  • Appropriate CPD for the role of Senior/Associate grade fire engineer
  • Contribute to fire strategy workshops and design team meetings
  • Manage project time within appointed scope
  • Ensure your own well-being within reasonable working hours

Required skills:

  • Minimum of 3 years' experience post grad experience working in UK-based fire safety engineering.
  • Demonstrable experience in fire safety engineering within a consultancy environment.
  • Demonstrable fire engineering/strategy experience in UK-based residential and mixed-use developments.
  • Experience of client facing projects and working within design team meetings.
  • Experience of drafting project fee proposals, setting out the scope, RIBA Stages of Work, deliverables, and associated fees.
  • Experience in developing and authorising fire engineering strategy reports.
  • Sound experience in producing fire safety audits and complex fire risk assessments.
  • Strong understanding of fire risk assessment principles.
  • Sound knowledge of recognised fire safety and engineering guidance and Codes of Practice, eg, BS 9991, BS 9999, BS 9251, Fire Safety Order 2005, NFCC simultaneous evacuation, SCA guide, BS 7974 series, ASFP suite, PAS79 and similar.
  • Knowledge of façade/cladding inspection and assessment (eg. PAS 9980 FRAA).
  • Competent using the Microsoft Office Suite, willingness to develop abilities through CPD. Full Member of the Institution of Fire Engineers (MIFireE).
  • Engineering Council registered (minimum of EngTech) through the IFE (or with another Professional Engineering Institution).
