Finance Manager (Senior Role) - Mid-Kent Charity

About the Opportunity:This is an excellent opportunity for an accomplished finance professional to take on a senior role within an established charity making a significant impact in the Kent community. Your New Role:

  • Strategic Leadership: Guide the financial strategy and manage the charity's finances, ensuring efficient and timely execution of all financial tasks.
  • Financial Oversight: Handle payroll preparation and processing, manage salary payments and pensions, oversee accounts payable and receivable, maintain ledgers, and more.
  • Strategic Support: Provide expert financial advice, budgeting, forecasting, and financial modelling to governing and executive bodies.
  • Project Support: Assist project leaders with service pricing and engagement with public sector bodies.
  • Sustainable Growth: Develop strategies for social investment and maximise financial opportunities.
  • Policy Development: Enhance financial policies and procedures to boost social impact and ensure robust financial controls.
  • Team Building: Line-manage and develop a small but dedicated finance team.
  • Financial Management: Oversee cash flow, profitability, core accounting functions, and preparation of statutory accounts.
  • Compliance: Stay updated with legal and regulatory developments, optimising government provisions for the charity's benefit.

About You:

  • Proven experience as a financial leader and/or management accountant, preferably within the education, charity, or non-profit sectors.
  • Qualified by Experience or Part/Qualified Accountant (CIMA, ACA, or ACCA).
  • Strong bookkeeping and core accounting skills, including statutory accounts preparation and payroll.
  • Passionate about social change and committed to the charity's vision and values.
  • Flexible, reliable, and self-motivated team player with the initiative to identify and complete tasks.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
  • Proficient with internet and cloud-based accounting software like Xero, Syft, and Google Sheets.
