First Line IT Support Apprentice

Our client are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join their IT team as a First-Line IT Apprentice. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain hands-on experience in IT support while working towards a Level 3 Information Communications Technician apprenticeship qualification. The successful candidate will be involved in a variety of IT support activities, including initial triage, troubleshooting, and providing first-line support to our internal users.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide first-line IT support to internal users via phone, email, and in person.
  • Log and manage support tickets using the company's ticketing system.
  • Perform initial triage and troubleshooting for IT issues related to hardware, software, and network.
  • Assist in setting up and configuring IT equipment such as desktops, laptops, printers, and mobile devices.
  • Maintain and update IT documentation, including user guides and FAQs.
  • Escalate more complex issues to second-line support or relevant teams.
  • Support the IT team in various projects and tasks as required.
  • Ensure timely resolution of support requests in line with service level agreements (SLAs).

Skills and Competencies:

  • Basic understanding of IT principles and an eagerness to learn.
  • Good problem-solving skills with a methodical approach.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage time effectively and prioritise tasks.
  • Customer-focused with a friendly and approachable demeanour.
  • Basic knowledge of Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office suite

Experience:

  • Previous experience in a customer service role is advantageous.
  • Any prior experience with IT support or related activities is a plus but not required.

Entry Requirements:

  • 3 GCSEs (or equivalent) at grades 4+ (A-C) in any subject
  • GCSE Maths and English (or equivalents) at grades 3+ (D or above)
  • Prospective apprentices must not hold an existing qualification at the same or higher level as this apprenticeship is in a similar subject

You may also have a combination of qualifications and experience which demonstrate the minimum foundation needed for the programme. In this instance you could still be considered for the programme.

If you hold international equivalents of the above qualifications, at the time of your application you must be able to provide an official document that states how your international qualifications compare to the UK qualifications.
