Salary: £27,747 - £29,346 per annum (SFCA Support Staff pay spine points 13-15)

The College is looking to appoint a Lead Technician - Biology. The post holder will work as part of a team to service the laboratories with primary oversight for the biology department, so that staff and students can carry out practical work efficiently, accurately and safely.

The ideal candidate will advise the technician team on departmental matters and manage the departmental timetable - coordinating the delivery of practical activities. They will be the first point of contact for specific departmental matters and will therefore work closely with the Head of Department and Assistant Head of Department.

This role will ensure the safe custody of equipment and consumables within the science faculty and manage the stock, identifying equipment for maintenance and repair. Additionally, you will prepare materials for class practical's, receive chemicals, equipment and biological materials, source materials which are not readily available or require special handling, and purchase goods from external sources whilst being mindful to minimise expenditure to the college.
