Job Title: Interim Head of Fire Safety
Location: West Yorkshire (Hybrid)
Duration: Interim, ongoing
Salary/Rate: Inside IR35 - £500 per day Negotiable DOE
Spencer Clarke Group's Local Authority client is seeking an Interim Head of Fire Safety to transform the council's approach to Fire Safety Management. Reporting directly to the Service Director, you will work closely with the corporate health and safety team, property compliance team, and external contractors.
As the Council's 'competent person' on all matters relating to Fire Safety, you will ensure compliance with the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 (RRO) and provide assurance to Senior Officers that their responsibilities are being discharged in line with all applicable legislation. This pivotal role involves the development, implementation, and maintenance of an open and transparent Fire Safety Management System in line with BS:9997, ensuring that the Council's premises are safe and compliant.
About You
- Active member of the Institution of Fire Engineers or Institute of Fire Safety Managers.
- Hold a qualification in fire prevention or fire safety, such as the NEBOSH National Certificate in Fire Safety and Risk Management, NEBOSH General Certificate, or an equivalent level 4 RQF accredited fire risk assessment.
- Committed to continuous professional development with comprehensive knowledge of fire legislation, building regulations, and building fire precautions.
- Demonstrable experience of strategic fire safety management in a multi-site complex organisation, including planning and implementation of fire prevention, protection, and intervention.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders and colleagues at all levels.
