REED HR is delighted to be support our client, a large public sector NI employer located in Belfast City centre, who requires a Senior Employee Relations People Partner for an exciting new role within their HR Operations Team.

In this permanent hybrid role as Senior Employee Relations People Partner, you will report to the Head of Employee Relations. You will work as part of a busy ER team where you will develop, deliver and maintain a business focused employee relations strategy to support a positive ER culture consulting and negotiating on ER issues and change

This role is ideal for an experienced professional with a minimum of 3-5 years Employee Relations experience within a large, complex organisation, with Trade Union exposure being essential

The Role

  • Develop and maintain an organisational strategy that supports a positive employee relations culture
  • Work closely with the Head of Employee Relations to help shape the strategic Employee Relations agenda
  • Influence the development of corporate ER policy & practices
  • Continually develop negotiating structures between Trade Unions and the company
  • Establish strategic consultative processes and mechanism to ensure delivery outcomes are achieved with stakeholder groups that confirm to best practices
  • Lead negotiations and consultations on change initiatives with Trade Unions
  • Lead on employee relation issues relating to changes to organisation structure, employment levels and contracts
  • Lead positive employee relations initiatives that will drive a culture of continuous improvement and partnership
  • Be the subject matter expert on employee relations and provide responsive and high-quality support and advice
  • Coordinate Tribunal and Fair Employment actions taken against the business, liaise with HRBPs and legal representatives
  • Provide best practice & expert advice about development and delivery of change initiatives, ensuring engagement & communication

The Person

Essential

  • Degree level qualification with a minimum of 3 years relevant Senior Employee Relations experience within a large, complex organisation providing ER advice and guidance is up to senior manager level
  • OR:
  • HNC/HND Qualification with a minimum of 5 years relevant Senior Employee Relations experience within a large, complex organisation, providing Employee Relations advice and guidance up to senior manager level
  • Strong experience of managing employee relations
  • Experience of managing and handling the people aspects of change in a unionised environment
  • Experience of project management or continuous improvement projects
  • Experience of managing challenging people issues effectively

Desirable

  • Membership of CIPD
  • Experience of working within a manufacturing/operations/construction/engineering organisation
  • Experience of contract negotiation, changes in Terms & Conditions
  • Experience of managing a team
