Senior Development Editor - ELT

Would you like to work for a leading international educational publisher, where you will have a direct impact in helping students discover the joy of learning? We have a fantastic new role for a Senior Development Editor to be part of a successful ELT publishing team, working on all aspects of the development of multi-component programmes. The role will involve research and planning, to meet the requirements of the customer and strengthen the brand's impact in the marketplace. This is an exceptional opportunity for someone with proven textbook publishing experience, from the ELT industry, and great content and copy-editing skills, looking for a senior editorial role within ELT publishing. This role can be worked from home but attending the Hampshire office 2 days per month.

Some key responsibilities of the Senior Development Editor will involve:

  • Contributing to conceptualizing new product proposals
  • Editing content of course components at all stages of their development
  • Collaborating with the Digital team to develop specification, schedule, brief and budget for digital components, from product conception
  • Commission, brief, and monitor quality of work of external contributors, including authors, freelance editors, and audio-visual suppliers
  • Plan, design, and conduct market research to inform editorial decisions
  • Brief cross-departmental project teams on product concept
  • Engage key Sales & Marketing stakeholders during development by presenting at stakeholder readouts and fielding questions

This is a pivotal role for the editorial team and the successful person will have proven solid experience working in textbook publishing with an ELT background. Strong project management skills are essential as you will see through product development from end to end. ELT teaching experience and an understanding of the principles of English language acquisition are a must. The Senior Development Editor will have excellent content and copy-editing skills, along with strong written and communication abilities. The role requires the ability to handle multiple projects and tasks to deadline. A recognized ELT teaching qualification is highly desirable.
