We are looking for a Procurement Officer with Food or Beverage Manufacturing experience to join our clients growing team in Birmingham. Our client has recently acquired several new suppliers and in turn need a Procurement Officer to join the team and focus on the companies' buying operations and cost efficiency.

Essential Requirement for all candidates: 2+ years' experience in the Food or Beverage Manufacturing industry

Procurement Officer Responsibilities include:

Enhance Purchasing Processes

: Create and implement strategies to improve procurement operations.

Negotiate with Suppliers

: Work with suppliers to agree on contracts, pricing, and terms.

Optimise Costs

: Achieve competitive pricing, favourable terms, and efficient delivery schedules.

Streamline Operations with Supply Chain Principles

: Apply supply chain management principles to improve efficiency.

Adhere to Regulations and Maintain Records

: Follow food safety regulations and keep accurate purchasing records.

Introduce Cost-Saving Strategies

: Implement measures to streamline procurement and maximise budget effectiveness.

Oversee Procurement

: Manage the entire procurement process, ensuring quality control, proper stock levels, and minimal waste.

Identify Supply Needs and Budget Limits

: Understand supply requirements, budget restrictions, customer needs, and product specifications.

Find Qualified Vendors

: Locate suitable vendors for red meat, poultry, species, functional ingredients, and other supplies.

Monitor and Replenish Inventory

: Keep track of inventory levels and ensure timely restocking.

Assess Suppliers

: Evaluate the performance of suppliers and resolve any issues.

Evaluate Supplier Performance

: Ensure product quality, handle returns of defective items, and guarantee timely deliveries.

Ensure Timely Deliveries

: Use logistics systems to monitor shipments and ensure punctual delivery, utilising systems for effective procurement data management.

Stay Updated on Industry Trends

: Keep informed about market trends and competitor pricing to maintain a strategic edge.

Required Candidate Characteristics:

  • Skilled in supply chain management practices.
  • Effective negotiation skills to obtain favourable supplier terms.
  • Well-versed in logistics operations and best practices.
  • Experienced with Sage 200 or similar procurement software.
  • Excellent analytical skills for assessing supplier performance and cost-effectiveness.
