An established software vendor are currently on the lookout for a Data Engineer out of growith.

The Data and Reporting function is crucial in supporting our company's data strategy. As a Data Engineer, you will play a key role in delivering a scalable data intelligence platform in Azure. This platform will offer services and tools to derive deeper insights from big and complex data using predictive analytics and AI, uncovering actionable insights previously hidden in data.

You will assist in the rollout of this platform, ensuring these insights inform mission-focused decision making and strategic planning, helping the company achieve its core strategic objectives.

The platform will be designed to be iterative and adaptive, allowing exploration of new data sources, models, and algorithms over time. This ensures the company stays current and leverages the latest advancements in data intelligence.

As part of the Global Technology Services Department, within the Data and Reporting Team, you will support all areas of the business and engage in various projects that require the development of data infrastructure (ETLs, data migrations, data models, stored procedures, and reporting outputs). The goal is to provide clear and efficient analytics supported by robust data processes. You will extract insights and shape processes, primarily using structured data to understand behavior and interactions throughout the business and in relation to our internal applications. You will be the go-to expert on data resources and tools while promoting data-driven decision-making across the company.

Summary:

  • Support and maintain the central Data Platform, ensuring its availability and performance to meet business needs.
  • Build data pipelines to connect APIs, files, databases, and data streams to our Data Platforms.
  • Define and embed data quality measures within data pipelines.
  • Ensure data integrity, monitoring, and alerting are integrated into all solutions.
  • Create and manage Build and Deployment pipelines.
  • Enhance and support our Data warehouse.
  • Collaborate with analysts to translate requirements into solutions and ensure successful business outcomes.
  • Contribute to the overall design of the Data Platform.
  • Develop visualizations in Power BI.
  • Work in an Agile Kanban workflow to safely code, review, test, and deploy solutions using source control.

What we are looking for in you:

  • Implement data solutions in a Microsoft Azure environment using native technologies and RDS (SQL Server) toolsets.
  • Experience with transactional reporting solutions for critical business reporting.
  • Experience with dimensionally modeled databases for analytics use cases.
  • Knowledge of ETL tools and approaches.
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure technologies, including Databricks, Data Factory, Azure Synapse & RDS.
  • Experience with Python for scripting and automating data tasks.
  • Knowledge of CI/CD approaches for Data Platforms using Bitbucket and Bitbucket Pipelines.
  • Exposure to visualization development using Power BI.
  • Knowledge of MS SQL Server, SSIS, Visual Studio, and SSDT projects.
  • Experience in a relevant sector is a plus.
  • Degree or equivalent qualification/experience in computer science, data science, or a related field.

The role is offering a salary of up to £60,000 in addition to a range of benefits and the opportunity for hybrid working. Whilst there is an expectation to visit the office on occasions, they are happy for this to be circa once / twice per month depending on situation.
