Job Summary
We are seeking a Systems Accountant to manage and optimise our financial systems, ensuring they meet the needs of the finance department and other stakeholders. This role combines accounting expertise with technical skills to support and enhance our financial systems infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Systems Management:
- Oversee the implementation, maintenance, and improvement of financial systems (e.g., ERP, accounting software).
- Ensure financial systems are configured to meet business requirements and comply with accounting standards (GAAP/IFRS).
- Manage system upgrades, patches, and enhancements to maintain optimal performance and functionality.
System Integration and Optimisation:
- Collaborate with IT and other departments to integrate financial systems with business applications.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and automation within financial systems.
- Develop and implement best practices for system use and data management.
User Support and Training:
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting for financial system users.
- Conduct training sessions and create documentation for end-users to ensure effective use of the systems.
- Act as the primary point of contact for system-related queries and issues.
Financial Reporting and Analysis:
- Design and develop financial reports and dashboards to support decision-making.
- Ensure data accuracy and consistency across all financial reports.
- Perform financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.
Compliance and Security:
- Ensure financial systems comply with internal controls, policies, and regulatory requirements.
- Implement and monitor security protocols to protect financial data.
- Support internal and external audits by providing necessary system documentation and data.
Project Management:
- Lead or participate in financial systems projects, including new implementations, upgrades, and migrations.
- Define project scope, objectives, time-lines, and deliverable.
- Coordinate with stakeholders to ensure project goals are met on time and within budget.
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, or a related field.
- Professional accounting qualification (e.g., CPA, CMA) or equivalent certification preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting or finance, with at least 3 years in a systems accounting role.
- Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics) and financial software.
Skills and Competencies:
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial regulations.
- Proficiency in financial systems and technology, with a strong aptitude for learning new software.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong project management and organisational skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to data accuracy and integrity.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
