  • £35,274 to £40,668 per annum (up to £46,667 for an exceptional candidate)

As an Internal Auditor, you will play a key role within the Government's Internal Audit team, providing objective and evidence-based opinions on governance, risk management, and internal control. Reporting to the Financial Secretary, you will also work closely with external support from the UK Government Internal Audit Agency, ensuring full independence in your auditing capacity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Chief Internal Auditor and Trainee Internal Auditor in delivering the strategic audit plan
  • Conduct reviews and investigations to assess governance and risk management
  • Provide recommendations for improving internal controls
  • Ensure compliance with internal audit standards
  • Maintain independence while ensuring work delivered is free from undue influence

The Person

As the successful candidate you will have the following attributes:

  • Hold a recognised audit or accounting qualification (CMIIA, QIAL, PIIA, CAT or AAT or CCAB part-qualified accountant with internal audit experience)
  • 5 years plus experience of working in an audit or finance environment
  • Experience of working within the public sector would be an advantage, as would knowledge of IT auditing
  • Flexible in approach and resilient; competent and reliable under pressure

The Package

  • Fixed Term Contract up to 4 years
  • Starting Salary - £35,274 to £40,668 per annum (depending on qualifications and experience) however up to £46,667 may be available for an exceptional candidate
  • Eligibility for a 25% Gratuity, paid upon successful completion of the contract
  • 41 days paid leave, 30 days paid annual leave plus 11 government and public holidays
  • Relocation Allowance, to help with moving costs
  • Flights Package for you and any recognised dependents residing with you at post both at the beginning and end of contract, along with additional annual return flights contingent on the duration of the contract

  • Favourable income tax rates. Personal Allowance: £15,960 pa (NB: The first £12,000 of chargeable income is taxed at the rate of 21%, with the remainder being taxed at 26%)
