Position: Behaviour Mentor

About Us: Situated in the heart of Newham, our school is committed to creating a nurturing and inclusive environment where every student can thrive. We focus on promoting positive behaviour and personal growth, ensuring that all students have the support they need to succeed.

Role Overview: As a Behaviour Mentor, you will play a vital role in supporting students within our exclusion unit, monitoring campus activities, and being on call to manage and de-escalate challenging situations. Your primary goal will be to guide students towards positive behaviour and help them reintegrate successfully into the school community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing one-on-one and group support to students in the exclusion unit
  • Developing and implementing behaviour improvement plans
  • Monitoring and supervising the school campus to ensure a safe and orderly environment
  • Being on call to respond to behavioural incidents and provide immediate support
  • Collaborating with teachers, support staff, and parents to create effective strategies for behaviour management
  • Building positive relationships with students to encourage trust and respect
  • Recording and tracking student progress and behaviour incidents

Requirements:

  • Experience working with young people, ideally in a school or youth work setting
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to stay calm and assertive in challenging situations
  • Patience, empathy, and a commitment to helping students succeed
  • Understanding of behaviour management techniques and strategies
  • Relevant qualifications or training in behaviour management or youth work is desirable
