Re-Housing Officer

I am recruiting for a Re-Housing Officer to work at a local authority in Sheffield.

The position is based in Howden House in Sheffield City Centre, working to help homeless households find a new home.

Duties of the Rehousing Officer will include:

  • You will have a caseload of households to support each week in their rehousing journey, which will involve telephone contact and some face-to-face discussions.
  • To use all contact methods when dealing with rehousing cases and allocations issues including home visits.
  • To work closely with colleagues and other stakeholders to support Housing and Neighbourhoods Service priorities.
  • To maintain the Council's Housing register, including the annual review of the housing register.
  • To advise customers on all aspects of rehousing and the availability of social housing accommodation, including how to register and access social housing, rehousing priorities, and information relating to initiatives which impact on social housing tenants.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Good customer service skills are needed
  • Be able to prioritise your workload and have challenging conversations.
  • Housing knowledge and experience is welcomed but not essential as full training will be given, and you will have the support of an experienced team.
  • The successful candidate will be a quick learner, with the ability to pick up and quickly use a variety of IT systems.

Please note that this role is office based and hybrid working is only available on an occasional basis.

The hours of work are full time (37 per week) Monday to Friday from around 9am to 5pm.

An hourly rate of £12.93 is on offer (PAYE) and the role is to start ASAP.
