About the Role

Base Location: Flexible, however our preference is that you will be based near one of our key sites in the South of England, which includes but is not limited to:- Thatcham, Solent Park, Melksham, Poole, New Forest, Reading and London.

Salary: £40,600 - £61,000 + car /car allowance + performance-related bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

As Junior Contracts Manager you'll work closely with suppliers, contractors, and internal stakeholders to drive value and ensure top-notch commercial controls. You'll collaborate with Category Managers, Procurement Officers, and senior leadership to support world-class procurement and commercial operations while managing key aspects like sourcing, budgeting, contract negotiation, and dispute resolution. The main duties of the role include:

  • Supporting the development and management of key relationships with suppliers and contractors, liaising directly with points of contact on projects and contracts.
  • Working alongside Category Managers and Procurement Officers to ensure optimal sourcing strategies for goods, works, or services.
  • Assisting the Head of Procurement and Commercial team in delivering services like estimating, category management, contract administration, and cost management.
  • Negotiating, compiling, and awarding Call Off Contracts while managing supplier interfaces to ensure value for money and strong commercial controls.
  • Handling all post-contract matters, including negotiating compensation events and ensuring that the core principles of the Commercial Manual are being implemented.

What Do I Need?

To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:

  • A good working knowledge of UK construction contracts. Experience of working with the NEC ECC forms of contract or similar is essential, along with the ability to research, gather and present information both verbally and in writing.
  • Experience in bottom-up costing, cost and budget management, pre and post contract administration, contract negotiation, claims and commercial programme and risk management.
  • Good understanding in the preparation and drafting of construction and/or engineering contracts.
  • Excellent IT skills including knowledge of all MS Office applications. Experience in the use of proprietary purchase systems would be beneficial.
  • A degree in Quantity Surveying is preferred however, candidates with other relevant related degrees with appropriate experience will be considered. MRICS or MCIPS professional qualifications are desirable however other relevant qualifications will be considered, or those working towards a degree or qualification.
