IT Desktop Support Apprentice

Overview:
We are now looking for an eager candidate to join us as an apprentice.
The overall objective of the role is to provide day-to-day administrative management of the Shipleys network as directed by the IT Manager.
The successful apprentice will need to travel to the Godalming office 1 day a week. (5 Woolsack Way, Godalming, GU7 1XW)

Salary: £17,000 - £19,000 per annum.

Responsibilities: [includes but are not limited to:]

  • Monitoring status of incoming requests via the helpdesk systems, phone, emails and walk-in.
  • Installation, configuration and ongoing usability of desktop, laptops, thin client terminals, printers, peripheral equipment, software, telephony and mobile devices to agreed standards.
  • Setting up appropriate hardware for webinars.
  • Management of hardware stock audit and asset update.
  • Providing desktop support for all standard and departmental software packages.
  • Completing basic set-up and termination of users in software packages.
  • Configuration of new desktops, laptops and thin clients to agreed standards.
  • Investigating and resolving known or suspected issues around applications and general IT equipment.

Desirable skills and experience:
A broad range of technical skills are required for this role and training will be provided for any areas where you don't have strong knowledge.

The following skills would be a particular advantage:

  • Relevant IT service desk user support experience within a Microsoft environment.
  • Windows Desktop Operating Systems.
  • Microsoft Office Products.
  • Basic Understanding of Microsoft Active Directory.
  • Knowledge and technical ability in relation to the firm's specialist application.
  • In-depth trouble shooting.
  • Understanding of LAN/WAN's.
  • Basic knowledge of Exchange 365.

Entry requirements:

  • 3 GCSE's (or equivalent) at grades 4+ (A-C) in any subject
  • GCSE Maths and English (or equivalents) at grades 3+ (D or above)
  • Prospective apprentices must not hold an existing qualification at the same or higher level as this apprenticeship is in a similar subject

You may also have a combination of qualifications and experience which demonstrate the minimum foundation needed for the programme. In this instance you could still be considered for the programme.

If you hold international equivalents of the above qualifications, at the time of your application you must be able to provide an official document that states how your international qualifications compare to the UK qualifications.
