We are a dynamic educational institution committed to providing high-quality training and development opportunities. We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Skills Coach & Assessor in Hairdressing to join our client's team. As a Skills Coach & Assessor, you will be responsible for delivering, assessing, coaching, and mentoring apprentices to ensure they meet the gateway for End Point Assessment (EPA). You will oversee the timely achievement of apprentices across all components of the apprenticeship programme, from initial sign-up to completion.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver individual learning sessions to meet the requirements of the standards, mandatory qualifications, and end point assessments.
  • Conduct initial assessments and collect enrolment paperwork and information from learners.
  • Advise learners on suitable qualifications and agree on individual learning plans.
  • Assess learners remotely, on-site, and in the workplace, preparing them for end point assessments.
  • Provide feedback to learners and identify areas for improvement.
  • Accurately complete and return paperwork and electronic records within specified deadlines.
  • Coach and monitor learners' on and off-the-job training.
  • Engage with online platforms to support learners.
  • Review learners' progress regularly and provide detailed feedback.
  • Liaise with employers to ensure appropriate training and assessment opportunities.
  • Meet targets for timely and overall success rates.
  • Provide information on learner progress to the Career Pathway Manager and Internal Quality Assurer (IQA).
  • Attend standardisation and quality assurance meetings.
  • Report potential leads and issues to the Career Pathway Manager and Business Development team.
  • Participate in Continuous Professional Development (CPD) to maintain professional competence.
  • Promote and model good practice in equality, diversity, safeguarding, and health and safety.

Qualifications:

  • Level 3 vocational qualification or equivalent in Hairdressing.
  • D32/D33, A1 Assessor qualification or working towards it.
  • Coaching or Mentoring qualification or working towards it.
  • Teaching qualification (PTTLS) or working towards it.
  • Minimum Level 2 standard in English and Maths.

Experience and Skills:

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant and current experience in the vocational sector.
  • Excellent practical, theoretical, and knowledge of vocational specialisms.
  • Experience working in various settings with flexible working arrangements.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Outstanding organisational skills with the ability to work under pressure.
