Eventus Legal are seeking a Tax Manager with experience to further develop the Tax offering within a highly regarded, legal 500 ranked law firm in Darlington. This role is a permanent position and ideally will be full-time, although part-time hours will be considered. Role responsibilities
The incoming Tax Manager will be working alongside the Tax & Trust department and will provide advisory and tax compliance support to the wider team, run a number of live trusts and will be in a client facing role where tax and estate planning is being contemplated. Specific duties may include:
- Preparing tax returns for ongoing trusts, estates and some individual clients
- Running live trusts
- Preparing trust accounts and managing the administration of trusts - some discretionary, some life interest, some settlor-interested, some non-settlor-interested, bare trusts and some mixed trusts.
- Dealing with Trust Registration Service requirements when creating , altering or terminating Trusts
- Liaising with brokers, agents, IFAs where necessary
- Dealing with ten year anniversary charges, exit charges and all aspects of IHT compliance work
- Assisting with tax planning work
- Preparing CGT computations
- Dealing with chargeable events both for estates and trusts
- Managing the finances for some of our elderly or vulnerable clients
The successful candidate will have their own clients and will also work alongside others so that clients benefit both from the firm's legal expertise and your tax expertise. As part of the team growth, you will be involved in recruiting and training of juniors, help promote knowledge sharing across the firm and generally have input into the growth of the team.
Person specification
Applications are sought from experienced Tax Managers, particularly those who are comfortable with an element of advisory and compliance work. The firm are flexible over the qualifications of the incoming candidate, however experience is paramount and ideally you will be experienced in the preparation of Tax Returns for Trusts, individuals and estates, specialising in Income, Capital Gains and Inheritance Tax.
We are looking for someone passionate about private client taxes, who is able to help the firm grow and create something quite unique, is willing to develop others, is hard-working and reliable and enjoys dealing with people.
