EC & I Electrical Technician

Contract: 3 months initially

Our client, is seeking an experienced EC&I Technician to join their Waste Treatment Plant team on a temporary contract basis. This is a fantastic opportunity to work with critical infrastructure and cutting-edge instrumentation systems within a highly regulated and safety-conscious environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as the electrical duty holder, ensuring compliance with BS7671 and other relevant regulations.
  • Maintain, develop, and optimise SCADA, PCS7, Safety Instrumented Systems, and other control systems.
  • Perform planned preventative maintenance (PPM), calibration, and compliance testing of instruments.
  • Troubleshoot electrical and control faults - hardware and software.
  • Lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and implement corrective actions.
  • Support shutdowns/outages with safe and efficient EC&I works.
  • Keep CMMS records up-to-date with accurate maintenance logs.
  • Develop and review engineering documents such as risk assessments, method statements, and procedures.
  • Deliver software updates and logic modifications on site PLCs and automation systems.
  • Liaise with contractors and support HSEQ initiatives.

Skills & Qualifications Required:

  • Essential:

  • ONC/HNC in Electrical or Electronic Engineering

  • Recognised EC&I Apprenticeship

  • Certification to work on systems over 400 volts

  • Proficient in Siemens PCS7, SCADA, PLCs (or similar systems)

  • Strong knowledge of BS7671, PUWER, DSEAR, and IEC 61511

  • Desirable:

  • Certificate in Safety Instrumented Systems (e.g., TÜV)

  • Familiarity with CMMS systems and Microsoft Office suite

Ideal Experience:

  • Hands-on experience in energy, waste, utilities, or manufacturing
  • Demonstrated leadership and mentoring within EC&I teams
  • Lifecycle maintenance of control and instrumentation systems
  • Confidence with compliance processes and documentation standards
