Trainee Accountant

- Salary Range: £24,000 - £28,000 (reviewed with exam progression)
Are you a graduate eager to embark on a career in finance? We are on the lookout for a Trainee Accountant with a positive attitude, ready to embrace new challenges, learn, and commit to becoming a qualified accountant. The successful candidate will be supported in their training and studies to achieve qualification.
Day to Day of the Role:
- Manage administrative tasks such as correspondence, filing, and printing.
- Maintain accurate and detailed customer records and create new customer accounts.
- Perform bookkeeping duties, ensuring all financial transactions are accurately entered onto the ledgers.
- Complete daily and monthly bank reconciliations.
- Handle direct debits and match payments.
- Support the preparation of management accounts and month-end duties.
- Process purchase invoices, supplier payments, remittances, and liaise with suppliers.
- Process sales invoices, customer receipts, direct debits, and manage overdue collections.
- Assist with preparing and posting month-end journals, including prepayments, accruals, and depreciation.
- Help prepare monthly management reports.
- Build rapport with other functions and provide teams with relevant financial information.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Degree qualified with a 2:1 or higher.
- Completed or studying towards AAT (Level 3-4 desirable)
- Studying towards ACCA (desirable)
- Effective communication skills at all levels within the company and externally.
- High numerical and analytical skills, capable of handling large volumes of data.
- Proficiency in Excel. Familiarity with cloud-based accounting systems such as Sage & Xero is preferred but not essential as training will be provided.
- A strong desire to learn new skills and take on responsibilities when required.
- A high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
