**Customs Supervisor
**Location: Manchester
Reed is currently working in partnership with a global Freight Forwarder who are now seeking an experienced Customs Supervisor to lead their Customs Operations team. As a Customs Supervisor, you will play a critical role in ensuring compliance with all relevant laws and regulations while optimising the efficiency of our customs processes. **Responsibilities:

Oversee Daily Customs Operations:

Manage and supervise the day-to-day activities of the customs operations team

Ensure timely and accurate processing of shipments, including import and export documentation

Collaborate with customs brokers and other stakeholders to resolve any issues related to customs clearance

Compliance and Regulatory Adherence:

Stay up-to-date with changes in customs regulations, tariffs, and trade agreements

Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, including import / export restrictions, duty rates, and documentation requirements

Implement best practices to minimise risk and maintain a high level of compliance

Team Leadership:

Lead, mentor, and motivate the customs operations team

Set performance goals, conduct regular performance evaluations, and provide constructive feedback

Foster a positive work environment that encourages teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement

Process Optimisation:

Identify opportunities to streamline customs processes and reduce lead times
-
Collaborate with internal departments (such as logistics, supply chain, and finance) to enhance overall efficiency

Implement process improvements to enhance accuracy and reduce costs

Stakeholder Collaboration:

Work closely with internal stakeholders (e.g., procurement, legal, finance) to align customs operations with broader business objectives

Build strong relationships with external partners, including customs authorities, freight forwarders, and carriers
**Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., International Trade, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration)
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in customs operations, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role
- Strong knowledge of customs regulations, import / export procedures, and trade compliance
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
- Proficiency in relevant software tools (e.g., customs management systems, ERP systems)
