We are seeking a passionate and qualified SEN Teacher to join a community day special school in Bridgend. The school provides education for pupils aged 7 – 19 with complex behavioural and emotional difficulties (BESD), ASD, and/or learning difficulties/needs. The ideal candidate will be dedicated to making a significant difference in children's lives through education and will have experience working with challenging behaviour and complex learning needs.

Day to Day of the role:

  • Develop and implement programmes of learning activities tailored to individual needs.
  • Mark work, prepare teaching materials, and undertake general teaching responsibilities.
  • Support the school's ethos, values, and progression plan, leading by example.
  • Engage pupils in learning by preparing and adapting teaching materials.
  • Provide teaching contact time with pupils individually, in small groups, or in class settings.
  • Collaborate with professionals such as social workers and educational psychologists to create informed and progressive learning plans.
  • Foster personal development through pastoral and tutorial work.
  • Confidently teach across the curriculum or specialise in a particular subject.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and confidence in teaching across the curriculum for primary and/or secondary levels.
  • Experience or exposure to special school environments or similar settings.
  • Team teach/de-escalation certification is desirable.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with support staff and professionals to enhance pupil engagement and confidence.
  • Commitment to the protection of children and vulnerable adults, with a willingness to undergo full registration and DBS checks.
