Job Specification: Interim Charity Accountant
Location: Bath, UK
Contract: 3-month interim
Rate: £150-£225pd via Umbrella
Working Hours: Full-time (35 hours/week), with potential for some hybrid working or Part time hours
Role Overview:
The Interim Accountant will provide hands-on financial support to cover for a 3-month period. This role is focused on day-to-day financial tasks, ensuring accurate financial management and reporting. The position is purely temporary and will not extend into a permanent role.
Key Responsibilities:

Financial Reporting & Reconciliation:

Prepare and complete monthly management accounts.

Perform balance sheet reconciliations and ensure accuracy in financial records.

Assist in the preparation of statutory accounts and audit files.

Day-to-Day Financial Operations:

Handle transactional accounting, including processing invoices, payments, and receipts.

Manage bank reconciliations and ensure all financial data is accurately recorded in SAGE.

Support payroll processing by liaising with external providers and reconciling payroll data.

Compliance:

Prepare and submit VAT returns and Gift Aid claims.

Ensure compliance with charity financial regulations and statutory requirements.

Ad Hoc Financial Tasks:

Provide additional financial analysis and reporting as required.

Assist with the financial management of restricted funds and capital projects.
Person Specification:

Qualifications:
-
Essential: Qualified Accountant (ACCA or equivalent) or Qualified by extensive experience in a similar accounting role in the charity sector ideally

Essential: Proficiency in SAGE or similar accounting software; experience in charity accounting (SORP).

Skills & Knowledge:

Essential: Strong attention to detail with excellent reconciliation skills.

Essential: Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with VAT and Gift Aid processes.

Essential: Hands-on approach with the ability to work independently.

Essential: Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage time effectively.
