Rents & Service Charge Analyst/Accountant - Job Overview:
Your client, a major player in international property investment, is seeking an experienced
Rents & Service Charge Analyst/Accountant
to join their finance team. The candidate will be responsible for managing service charges, ensuring compliance with legislation, and preparing accurate budgets and accounts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Service Charge Budgeting: Estimating and setting accurate service charges for various tenure types (tenants, leaseholders, etc.) and preparing budgets for both existing and future properties.
- Cost Reconciliation: Reconciling actual vs. estimated service charges and preparing year-end accounts.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensuring compliance with regulations for rents and service charges, including shared ownership and rental tenancies.
- System Maintenance: Maintaining systems/spreadsheets for service charge data and financial workflows.
- Financial Audits: Preparing necessary documents for audit and ensuring compliance.
- Cross-functional Advising: Advising different business units on service charges for potential bids and business feasibility.
Experience & Skills Required:
- Minimum 2 years of experience in Service Charge Accounting within the property sector.
- Strong knowledge of service charge legislation and regulations, with experience participating in rent reviews.
- Proficiency in financial systems (e.g., Xero, Blox, SAP).
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and comfort working across multiple systems.
- Strong analytical skills to identify and resolve data discrepancies.
- Experience preparing year-end accounts and working with housing management systems.
- Self-driven, organized, and capable of independent work.
This role requires someone with a blend of financial expertise, regulatory knowledge, and attention to detail to manage a dynamic and busy workload in property finance.
Salary:
£40,000 + an annual discretionary bonus and other benefits.
