Title: M&E Maintenance Manager

Reports to: Head of Estates Engineering Services

Responsible for: Operational Engineering Maintenance across Londong Portfolio

Main Purpose of the Job:

The M&E Maintenance Manager is responsible for managing the in-house engineering team and third-party contractors to deliver planned preventative (PPM) and emergency reactive maintenance across the portfolio. The role involves developing the engineering team's practices to ensure compliance with legislation, value for money, and meeting user expectations. Key responsibilities include prioritizing workloads, ensuring accurate maintenance data recording, maintaining all assets, developing a customer-focused team, supporting various engineering projects, and acting as the Authorised/Responsible Person for various systems following training and certification.

Main Responsibilities:

Functional Responsibilities:

  • Manage the operational maintenance team to ensure safe, reliable, and compliant maintenance of all building services.
  • Provide technical support and direction to the maintenance team and external contractors.
  • Support the Stage Engineering contract for stage support services.
  • Assist the Estates Business Services Manager with contractor control procedures, ensuring compliance and safety.
  • Maintain the highest standards for all Front of House spaces.
  • Assist the Head of Estates Engineering Services in maintaining building integrity, records, and design drawings.
  • Support the Engineering Manager in completing engineering insurance inspections and actioning recommendations.
  • Collaborate with the Energy Manager to ensure optimal performance of engineering plants across all sites.
  • Ensure plant rooms and areas are clean, tidy, and compliant.

Emergency Contact:

  • Be on call for Engineering & Facilities emergencies or ensure other qualified team members maintain this service if absent.

Person Specification:

Essential Knowledge/Skills and Experience:

  • Extensive, proven track record in a similar role within M&E Maintenance Management.
  • Degree-qualified engineer/building professional or equivalent practical experience.
  • Detailed knowledge of the working practices and demands of large, complex public and/or listed buildings.
  • Good working knowledge of statutory compliance within a medium to large, diverse, and complex estate.
  • Experience maintaining historic, heritage buildings.
  • Strong budgetary control and project management skills.
  • Ability to react quickly, reliably, and resiliently under pressure, and to adapt to changing circumstances.
  • Flexible and adaptable thinking and approach, with the ability to plan and manage change.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, in clear English, with the ability to listen, negotiate, and assert when necessary.
  • Strong people management skills to ensure team competency and support through training and coaching.
  • Fairness and consistency in team management and adherence to department policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Flexibility to work varied hours, including regular evenings and weekends.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD or other drawing software and Microsoft Office.
  • Evidence of Continual Professional Development.
