Please note this role has leadership responsibilities in the North East and therefore there will be an onsite office requirement. Sage operate a hybrid working policy.

The Role

Role overview:

A fantastic career opportunity has arisen to join the senior leadership team of Sage as their Finance Systems Senior Director. Based in Newcastle, you will lead three important teams. Financial Systems, Finance Analytics and Data Centre of Excellent (CoE).

Using cutting edge tools such as Adaptive, Hyperion (HEM), CXO, Tableau, Snowflake, Alteryx and PowerBI, you will transform financial data into actionable insights. Working closely with senior stakeholders at EVP and VP level across the business, you will be accountable for providing strategic direction and leadership to enhance reporting accuracy, drive data innovation and support proactive decision-making across Sage.

Key accountabilities

  • Provide operational leadership for your teams
  • Turn business intelligence requirements into practical plans to build and enhance financial systems and continuously improve existing systems through the use of application functionality.
  • Collaborate closely with EVP and VP level stakeholders across finance to understand requirements from a reporting and intelligence perspective
  • Assume personal accountability for the functions input into the Sage Data Governance Group
  • Ensure the availability and functionality of finance systems to support critical finance reporting and planning processes
  • Coach and develop the team

Skills & Experience

  • Leadership - the ability to inspire and motivate a team and provide opportunities for development
  • Strategic direction - solution orientated, interested in cutting edge ideas and approaches and open to learning
  • Stakeholder engagement experience - the ability to influence and manage EVP and S/VP level stakeholders

Technical experience

  • SAAS knowledge preferred

  • Strong data and business intelligence broad knowledge base- proficiency in HFM and Adaptive Insights would be advantageous. So would tools such as CXO, Power BI and ETL automation. Key is the ability to:

  • Troubleshoot with their people and develop solutions

  • Understands the importance of data security and ownership

  • Continuous improvement mindset - wants to learn the latest technologies

  • Accountancy or finance background would be a distinct advantage
