My client, a well established manufacturer in Plymouth is seeking a dedicated Improvement Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for progressing proactive maintenance tasks and implementing improvements to enhance the production efficiency and safety of the site.

Day to Day of the role:

  • Address near misses and safety culture actions, and participate in safety meetings.
  • Respond to audit findings and complete assigned actions.
  • Liaise with contractors and manage offline repairs/rebuilds.
  • Collaborate with production teams to facilitate line improvements.
  • Execute planned maintenance tasks, optimising both planned and short-notice downtime, in coordination with the Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Introduce additional inspection tasks for critical equipment components.
  • Provide assistance to Shift Engineers as needed.
  • Work closely with the Engineering Manager and Engineering Stores Controller to identify necessary parts.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Apprentice trained in an electrical or mechanical discipline is desirable, with an associated qualification.
  • Relevant experience in an engineering role within a similar industry.
  • Strong commitment to delivering excellent customer experience and embodying company values.
  • Ability to work collaboratively, supportively, and with the tenacity to drive change.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to provide constructive feedback and manage performance issues effectively.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with the confidence to challenge the status quo and introduce innovative ideas.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and strong documentation skills.
  • Fabrication and panel building skills are beneficial.
