Overview:

The Go to Market Planning team sits centrally within the Commercial teams of Boots, reporting into Marketing, but playing a critical role to the total function, across Commercial, Digital and insights in particular. The role reports to the Director of Go to Market and has two Customer and Commercial Planning Manager direct reports.

Leading the Planning team in Go to Market, this is an exciting opportunity to join and to drive the development of a critical capability at the heart of the new business operating model. Peers and critical stakeholders of this role are across all the Business unit and marketing leadership teams as well as strong links into both Core and Commercial Operations, as well as the wider Go to Market team.

This role is a critical linchpin in driving the creation of the best strategies and plans for the total business while ensuring this is achieved in the most efficient way to hit all our financial, customer and strategic targets. This role operates across the Business units and Marketing to drive the creation, trade-off and governance of our plans.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Development of an innovative in-year trade plan which drives meaning and difference for Boots:

o Responsibility to ensure the plan is grounded in insight and data

o Ownership of the processes and governance that drive the creation of the plan

o Strong input into proposition creation within the plan (particularly where it is across multiple business units)

o Co-ownership of brief to other leads (e.g. Digital and Marketing) on the plan to execute

o Responsibility to review & respond to changes in context/market & lead reactive changes to the plan (and our processes and governance to facilitate this)

  • Interrogation of the in-year trade plan and particularly the elements within it (e.g., promotions, NPD or the marketing plans) to ensure these are sufficient to achieve our targets.
  • Consolidation & communication of campaign performance, market & competitor activity to influence future activity, communicated to the rest of the business.
  • Evolution of our process, governance, and ways of working to continually optimise the delivery and efficiency of our plans (as well as drive and facilitate innovation)

What you need to have:

  • Experienced leader (ideally across at least two of Commercial, Marketing and Insights)
  • High level of organisational skills (potentially with some programme skills)
  • Senior stakeholder management
  • Strong commercial acumen and experience
  • Strong track record of delivery to targets, through the creation of owned plans and strategies
  • Ability to see different perspectives (commercial, customer, brand and operational) to drive for the right blended plan and outcome
