Chief Finance Officer

The Great Learners Trust seeks an exceptional Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to provide leadership and management for all aspects of the Trust's financial development, sustainability and business functions to ensure they deliver the best possible outcome for all its schools.

The Great Learners Trust has grown, since being established in 2014, to be a group of 11 primary schools. Their schools work together to create a collaborative learning community to achieve their goal of promoting outstanding education for all children in their community of schools.

This role has flexible working based in Great Missenden.

Role responsibilities:

Reporting to the CEO, the CFO will provide strategic leadership and management of the financial development and sustainability of the Great Learners Trust and for the financial probity of the organisation

  • You will be responsible for providing the leadership and management of the Trust's finance and business functions, enabling the Trust to work effectively towards its aims.
  • You will undertake and be accountable for the role of CFO as outlined in the Academies Financial Handbook and other documents from the DfE/ESFA
  • You will build the culture, ethos and relationships with Headteachers and Finance staff across the Trust
  • You will be the leader for all finance related work; this includes leading staff within the Trust employed with a finance function.
  • You will lead the annual budget preparation in accordance with the requirements of the Trust and DfE
  • You will be accountable for ensuring that the Trust complies with its legal obligations, adheres to financial regulations, and submits accurate financial reports in a timely manner

  • The ability to develop effective teamwork and promote and maintain effective relationships
  • The ability to create, implement and deliver strategic plans
  • Solid financial and management accounting experience
  • Strong Excel Skills
