Chartered Building Surveyor

Marks Consulting Partners are currently looking for a Chartered Building Surveyor to work with one of our Private Practice clients in London

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare, and develop where required, contract documentation and other documents relating to the project to a high standard to meet the client brief and regulatory requirements
  • Liaise, where appropriate, with members of the external project team and other associated organisations or companies
  • Take responsibility as the project leader for project delivery
  • Seek and record evidence of continuing professional development (CPD) in accordance with the relevant professional body (e.g. RICS)
  • Contribute, or otherwise assist, as required by an Associate Director/Director
  • Detailed knowledge and experience of building construction and contracts, defects diagnosis, condition surveys and reports, feasibility studies and reports, building costs, specification of building works, design capabilities for housing conversion and re-conversion, repairs, maintenance, refurbishment, conversion, different building types ranging from low to high rise and period to new build
  • Understanding of financial aspects of running a project on time and on budget and issuing instructions, valuations, certificates, and relevant notices accordingly.
  • Fully understand the regulatory requirements of the relevant work sector including Building Regulations, PAS2035, Building Safety Act 2022 and HRB's.
  • Client facing experience
  • A flexible and open attitude towards new ways of working and commitment to independent learning
  • Resilient to cope with conflicting demands, able to prioritise duties and work effectively under pressure while always remaining calm and professional
  • Party wall experience
  • Level 5 Diploma (Retrofit Coordination & Risk Management)
  • This description covers the core activities of the role but is not exhaustive. Flexibility will be required from time to time on a project specific basis. There is a requirement for the post holder to recognise this and adopt a flexible approach to work. Job descriptions will be reviewed periodically and where necessary revised in accordance with organizational needs. Any major changes will be discussed with the post holder.
