We are seeking an experienced and highly organised Shipping Officer to join our client. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in engineering or manufacturing environments, with significant experience in managing export and shipping operations. This role requires someone who can work effectively under pressure, liaise with various stakeholders, and ensure the timely delivery of products in line with project demands.
Key Responsibilities:
- Liaison and Coordination: Work closely with our export control team, local customs officers, and freight forwarders to deliver a benchmark export and shipping service.
- Documentation Management: Create, complete, and manage documentation required for export deliveries, including transport documents, hazardous goods notes, and customs formalities.
- Regulatory Compliance: Maintain up-to-date Import, Export, and Transport Registers. Assist the Export Control Department in ensuring compliance with Export Licenses.
- Transport Management: Coordinate transport operations both within the UK and internationally. Undertake imports and report Intrastats as required.
- Process Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements to create an efficient and cost-effective service.
- Legislation Awareness: Stay current with all transport legislation, including regulations up to and including prohibited weapons level.
- Communication: Adapt communication styles to ensure effective service delivery across different business functions.
- Movement Tracking: Maintain day-to-day knowledge of all movements from the site.
Required Experience and Skills:
- Pressure Management: Proven ability to work under pressure, liaising with team leaders and other stakeholders to drive productivity.
- SAP Expertise: Experience with SAP software.
- Microsoft Proficiency: Strong knowledge of Excel and other Microsoft applications.
- Industry Experience: Previous experience within an Engineering/Manufacturing organization.
- Export Legislation Knowledge: Detailed understanding of export legislation.
- Process Adherence: Strength of character to maintain adherence to processes despite conflicting demands.
