General Manager

Our client are a well diversified group operation benefiting from strong vertical integration within some of their core operations.

Due to planed retirement, they are seeking a well versed General manager to join them at the helm of the group and continue to drive and develop their individual operations though ongoing collaboration and development of internal communication protocols.

The General Manager will have full responsibility for business operations including P&L for various business units and a clear remit to map and improve existing processes whilst monitoring financial performance for each entity under their charge.

The General Manager will be responsible for:

  • Setting strategy to support the business growth objectives
  • Working cross departmentally in developing systems to support improvement activities necessary
  • Engaging people through leading and communicating, fostering a positive and professional culture focused on exceeding customer expectations.
  • Leading teams and supporting the delivery of production metrics
  • Monitoring performance and reporting appropriately
  • Supporting functions in the delivery of broader operational excellence
  • Development and mentoring of staff
  • Setting and supporting KPI's
  • Ensuring safety, quality and HR procedures are followed.
  • Consolidated reporting to the CEO

The Ideal candidate would have

  • Knowledge of all areas of business operations including Purchasing, Sales, Manufacturing operations, Administration, Health and Safety and Finance.
  • A degree or equivalent in an Engineering or Manufacturing, or business management discipline.
  • A logical and methodical approach with good analytical and practical skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills and a adaptable approach to management
  • Experience of projects, contracts led operations as well as manufacturing and project management capabilities
  • Experience delivering improvements to business operations
  • Good Financial awareness able to understand company accounts

The company are well funded and continue to invest in acquisitions as part of their ongoing growth protocols, the successful candidates will benefit from a diverse challenge int heir daily operations in a close working culture between business units. The successful applicant will be required where appropriate to travel between business units predominantly UK based.
