The Role:

We are seeking a dedicated Humanities Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join our team from September 2024. This role is ideal for individuals who have previous experience tutoring or working with children, particularly those with autism or anxiety. As an LSA, you will support learners who struggle to access the curriculum and may be working several years below expected levels. Your role will be crucial in providing tailored support to help these students make progress and achieve their educational goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with diverse learning needs, including those with autism, anxiety, and other challenges.
  • Assist in the preparation and delivery of Humanities lessons, adapting resources to meet the needs of individual students.
  • Support students who are working below expected levels to access the curriculum and achieve their learning objectives.
  • Work closely with teachers to monitor student progress and develop strategies to support their learning.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and engagement.
  • Assist in creating and implementing individualized learning plans for students who require additional support.
  • Collaborate with the school's SEN (Special Educational Needs) team and participate in relevant professional development opportunities.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children, particularly those with autism, anxiety, or other learning difficulties.
  • Previous experience in tutoring or educational support roles is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of Humanities subjects and the ability to adapt resources for diverse learning needs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and a commitment to fostering a supportive learning environment.
  • Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
