The Client

Our client is a key producer of factual programming in the UK, specialising in exciting and nail-biting true crime documentaries and intriguing behind-the-scenes programmes that shed light on various careers and historic events in the UK. Working closely with major streamers and broadcasters including ITV, UKTV, and other top, household names.

The Role

Reporting to a talented Financial Controller, this Management Accountant will be expected to hit the ground running by working autonomously to complete all month end activities for the business including reviewing month end journals, balance sheet reconciliation, accruals, prepayments, and providing commentary and variance analysis when needed. This Management Accountant is also responsible for forecasting and budgeting for the arm of the business this team sits within, so you'll have the opportunity to get great exposure to the commercial elements of the business.

Collaboration and communication are key in this position, as you'll have several juniors responsible for supporting with the AP/AR work necessary to complete the month end close, as well as frequent liaising with the production teams on accounting matters.

The ideal candidate will be a fully qualified accountant with experience in the TV and Film industry, who is a strong and confident communicator and able to delegate and business partner with senior members of the business to complete financial reports.

Duties:

  • Lead on the preparation of management accounts, including preparing month end journals, accruals, prepayments, and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Delegate tasks to juniors within the team to support the completion of management accounts
  • Prepare commentary and variance analysis of performance against budget and forecast
  • Coordinate with production teams and senior finance team members to ensure all are abreast of notable changes or variations to budgets/forecasts
  • Ad hoc production accounting work as needed
  • Analyse revenue and cost data to support budgeting/forecasting
  • Liaise with C-Suite to communicate commercial reports
  • Support with the implementation of a new ERP system
  • Ad hoc tasks to support the Financial Controller

What we need to see (essential):

  • Fully qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA)
  • A passion for TV and Film!

What we'd like to see (bonus):

  • Previous experience in the Media and Entertainment industries
  • Exposure to project or production accounting

Salary: £60,000-£65,000

Location: Central London

Hybrid: 2/3 days in-office, 2/3 days work from home (WFH)
