DT Technician

DT Technician required to join a welcoming and friendly secondary school in Kidbrooke, Greenwich. They wish to appoint a DT Technician to join their well-established, well-resourced and successful faculty.

As a DT Technician, you will provide a support service to school teaching staff by ensuring that equipment and materials are maintained and set up in School Food & Textile Rooms, to enable practical work to be carried out efficiently and safely.

  • Full time, Monday to Friday.
  • 8am to 4pm.
  • All year round.
  • £105 to £110 per day.

Duties of this role include:

  • To support teachers during practical lessons and assist in food preparation.
  • To set up food demonstrations and clear classrooms as required at the end of the lesson.
  • To cook samples and tasters as required.
  • To assist with the planning and delivery of learning activities.
  • Provide supervision of practical lessons alongside the teacher, ensuring pupils are adhering to safety and hygiene standards and not putting themselves and others at risk.
  • To assist with the smooth running of the food and textiles rooms on a day-to-day basis.
  • To maintain stocks and supplies for the food technology and textiles as required.
  • To be responsible for ensuring that adequate safety precautions relating to equipment maintenance are taken at all times in the Design and Technology Curriculum Area as required under Health and Safety legislation. To ensure that all Health and Safety concerns are communicated to the Curriculum Leader.
  • To be responsible for ordering of supplies ensuring best value is achieved in accordance with laid down procedures.
  • To contribute to the design, development and maintenance of specialist resources and offer professional guidance to support students and teachers.

Essential Requirements

  • Valid Enhanced DBS certificate.
  • References covering the last two years.
  • Experience working within a similar role and within the education setting.
