Our client is looking to add a Lead Electrical Engineer to their team on their commercial site in Reading. The ideal candidate will be technically strong in Electrical Engineering and will have experience leading a M&E engineering team.

Key duties:

  • Maintain a close working relationship with the Site Manager and the client FM.
  • Act as the primary contact for the on-site engineering team, overseeing their performance and standards, including internal audits.
  • Issue relevant site permits as part of the Safe System of Work and conduct regular inspections of the site and engineers.
  • Manage M&E stock control.
  • Report any health and safety incidents, accidents, or near misses to line managers.
  • Oversee effective site handovers, including critical plant status, plant isolation's, issues, ongoing works, special task requests, and housekeeping standards.
  • Comply with statutory and company health, safety, and environmental regulations and policies.
  • Ensure timely implementation and recording of all statutory inspections.
  • Oversee third-party contractors, including scheduling, monitoring work performance and standards, and conducting internal audits.
  • Ensure Specialist Service Provider worksheets are signed off, work quality is inspected, and recommendations are escalated.
  • Maintain plant and plant areas to the highest standard, escalating any issues.
  • Operate and troubleshoot all building systems, including BMS and electrical monitoring, control systems, air handling, conditioning and terminal units (VAV and CRAC), chillers, domestic water services, fire prevention and detection systems, variable speed drives, AC and DC single-phase and three-phase motors and associated controls, and low voltage switch panels and breakers.

Requirements:

  • Approved apprenticeship or equivalent experience in Building Services.
  • Level 3 City & Guilds in Building Services Engineering (HVAC or Electrical/Mechanical) or equivalent, with competence in plumbing, joinery, tiling, and painting.
  • 17th or 18th Edition IEE certification.
  • Necessary health and safety awareness.
  • A minimum of 3 years of engineering experience is required.
  • Willingness to work overtime as needed to meet site requirements.
  • Participation in an on-call rota.
