Commercial Associate

This international law firm are seeking to recruit an Associate into their commercial group in London.

The successful candidate will have experience gained from a leading City or substantial regional firm or in-house with a substantial commercially-focussed business.

About the Role

  • The role will involve advising and assisting clients in connection with the legal aspects of a wide range of non-contentious commercial work.
  • This is including drafting/negotiating terms and conditions of trading, agency and distribution arrangements.
  • Manufacturing agreements; advising on data protection and privacy issues.
  • Also competition law, technology law and e-commerce.
  • Advising on IP and marketing issues, consumer rights legislation and providing transactional corporate support.

You will also be heavily involved in the development and implementation of new cross-office marketing initiatives and the development of the firm's commercial contracts, data and technology offering.

Responsibilities

  • To advise clients upon the legal aspects of their existing and proposed commercial contracts and arrangements, including IT, IP and data protection issues
  • To prepare or assist in the preparation and negotiation of complex commercial transactions
  • To maintain visibility and accessibility across the team and to manage client relationships throughout the delivery of legal services
  • To help develop and implement marketing and new business development strategies

Person Specification

  • A strong background with experience in providing legal advice and assistance on commercial issues and arrangements
  • A sound knowledge of the application of general legal principles to commercial situations
  • The ability to apply this knowledge to the preparation of clear and accurate agreements (drafted from scratch, where necessary), policies and other documentation and advice
  • Keeping up-to-date with legal developments
  • The ability to work as part of a team both within the team and within the firm as a whole, together with high levels of personal commitment and initiative whilst also able to supervise others and delegate work
