**Job Description

**Job Summary:

We are seeking a proactive and experienced Site Manager to oversee the smooth and efficient planning, management, and resourcing of site activities. This role is pivotal in ensuring the safe and optimal operation of all plant, equipment, and personnel, while providing exceptional service to both internal and external stakeholders.

**Key Responsibilities:

Operational Excellence:

  • Secure the necessary support and resources to maintain effective site operations.
  • Collaborate and communicate with internal departments, external outlets, and hauliers for material movements and transfers.
  • Guarantee the quality of outgoing materials meets specifications required by off-takers.
  • Upload and maintain all necessary information for reporting and record-keeping, including daily site logs and weekly returns.
  • Evaluate operational performance and ensure the efficient use of resources (e.g., plant and personnel).
  • Ensure all plant and equipment are operational and maintained according to company policy, and report any defects to the plant and maintenance department promptly.
  • Monitor and manage stock levels of bin containers and maintain accurate records.
  • Assist management in identifying, planning, and executing projects and site improvements.

Health, Safety, Quality, and Environment (HSQE):

  • Develop and implement safe systems of work, including risk assessments and method statements.
  • Ensure compliance with all current HSQE legislation and company management systems and policies.
  • Conduct site safety inspections, support HSQE and client audits, and promptly address any non-conformances.
  • Provide visible HSQE leadership and promote safe working practices to minimize incidents and injuries.
  • Review and action all compliance assessment and monitoring reports, liaising with the Environment Agency and planning authority to ensure compliance.
  • Submit all data returns to the Environment Agency or planning authority in a timely manner.
  • Adhere to the Transfrontier Shipment Regulations at all times, ensuring all documentation is completed accurately.

Team Leadership:

  • Recruit skilled operators and site management teams to meet site requirements.
  • Manage and motivate teams, set clear expectations, and provide feedback on individual performance.
  • Ensure all operatives and site staff are fully trained and competent to perform their tasks safely and efficiently.
  • Hold regular meetings with third-party labour providers and ensure any agency labour is fully trained and competent.

Education / Qualifications / Certifications:

  • CIWM WAMITAB (essential)
  • IOSH Managing Safely
  • First Aid Certificate (4-day)
  • Fire Marshall
  • Asbestos Awareness
  • Full UK driving licence

Experience / Skills / Competencies:

  • Extensive experience in site management within the waste management sector.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of relevant health and safety, environmental, and planning regulations.
  • Understanding of environmental permits and waste returns.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills to deliver operational excellence.
  • Ability to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to perform under pressure.
  • Proficiency with software, including the MS Office suite.
