About the Role
Macildowie is proud to be exclusively partnering with Swim England, the national governing body for swimming in England, to recruit a Marketing Manager (Membership). This is a fantastic opportunity for a driven, insight-led marketing professional to shape and lead proactive membership campaigns that support growth, engagement, and long-term value across Swim England's community.

You will work at the heart of the Membership Marketing and Engagement team, developing and executing strategic marketing campaigns across the full mix-from content and social to email and paid media. Crucially, you'll leverage data and insights to shape powerful, segmented journeys and deepen connections with Swim England's diverse audiences.

Job Purpose
To lead and deliver targeted, data-informed marketing campaigns that drive acquisition, engagement, and retention across Swim England's membership base, aligning with the organisation's "One Swim England" strategy and values of inclusion, collaboration, ambition, and doing what's right.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of Swim England's membership marketing strategy, ensuring it supports and aligns with broader organisational and membership goals.
  • Plan, deliver and manage end-to-end marketing campaigns across multiple channels, including social media, paid advertising, email, and content marketing-from concept and budget management through to evaluation and optimisation.
  • Apply data and audience insights to design segmented customer journeys and develop effective lifecycle communications.
  • Provide leadership and day-to-day management to a small team of marketing and social media professionals, supporting their growth and output.
  • Promote strong data governance and champion the use of accurate, high-quality data to drive decision-making and improve campaign effectiveness.
  • Ensure all marketing activity is consistent with Swim England's brand identity, tone of voice and communication standards.
  • Work collaboratively with internal teams across Membership, Safeguarding, and Development to deliver integrated campaigns that meet shared strategic outcomes.
  • Monitor, track and report on the performance of campaigns and membership engagement journeys, using insight and analytics to support continuous improvement.
  • Act as deputy for the Head of Membership Marketing and Engagement when required, contributing to leadership and strategic planning.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Experience in a marketing and data-led role with full campaign cycle exposure.
  • Strong across the full marketing mix including digital, social, email, and paid media.
  • Proven ability to deliver audience-segmented, insight-driven campaigns.
  • Confident working with customer databases and setting up automated journeys.
  • Competent in analysing data to influence decisions and future marketing.
  • End-to-end project management capability, with excellent time management.
  • Skilled in managing campaign/media agencies to achieve commercial objectives.
  • Understanding of GDPR and data protection legislation.
  • High-level copywriting and creative thinking skills.
  • Positive, proactive, and flexible approach with a growth mindset.

Desirable Attributes

  • A passion for sport, swimming, or the wider sports development sector.
  • Ability to translate complex data into actionable marketing opportunities.
  • Experience in customer experience optimisation and revenue-driven marketing.
