UK Distribution Center Manager

Location: Shildon

Salary: £75,000 per annum

The Role

The UK Distribution Center Manager will have full P&L Responsibility for a Company Owned Distribution Location.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Own the warehouse and distribution end-end. Set it up and ensure it is built for growth and ready to serve customer needs.
  • Own and manage 3PL relation. Develop a shared vision achieving exceptional service and quality levels with a strong focus on cost effectiveness.
  • Drive Safety, Quality, Service and Productivity as the main success factors.
  • Inventory management and replenishment strategies, Inventory accuracy, perpetual stock take, location control, FIFO, SLOB avoidance and management are just some of the key responsibilities the position owner needs to be 100% familiar with.
  • Establish a team supporting the strategy in line with Wilsonart Vision and Missions. Build strong relations to the Wilsonart commercial team and customers as appropriate.
  • Analyses and improve existing business processes. Lean Manufacturing required, SixSigma is a plus.
  • Collaborates with Global Commodity Managers to establish strong Supplier relations incl. SLA's. Internal as well as external suppliers.
  • Monitor performance, gathers relevant data and produces executive reports.
  • Generates and leads continuous improvement projects to reduce waste, claims and increase overall warehouse and logistic efficiency.
  • Leverage Technical Service / Application engineering capability to develop a unique added value to customer's needs.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Proven experience managing warehouse and logistic processes. Knowledge of UK distribution market is required.
  • Strong operational background with demonstrated business acumen. Previous P&L ownership desired but not a must.
  • MBA or Degree in a technical subject (e.g. industrial engineering, process technology)
  • Consolidated understanding and experiences of process improvement techniques
  • Proven experiences in process optimization and quality management
  • Experienced in Lean and/or Six Sigma and similar tools.
  • 5+ years of leadership experience in an international company with a business unit and matrix structure, resulting in intercultural awareness.
