Azure BI Data Engineer

As a BI Developer/Engineer, you will transition business data platforms to Microsoft Fabric and create BI solutions for informed decision-making. This role is part of the Business Intelligence function, focusing on developing and governing our business systems. You will work on Azure/Fabric projects, including data platforms, pipelines, models, reports, and dashboards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement the data migration strategy using Microsoft Fabric for stakeholder consumption and reporting
  • Model data from multiple sources into output which provides actionable insight
  • Manage and maintain the Data warehouse platform and investigate bugs and issues and ensure system works as expected
  • Design and implement data pipelines across multiple source and destination systems using SSIS, Azure Data Factory and Fabric Pipelines
  • Develop Power BI dashboards and customised paginated reports based on business requirements, to a standard suitable for external audiences
  • Collaborate with IT resources to understand requirements from the business, present visualised recommendations and translate them into technical solutions
  • Write optimised SQL queries against SQL Server and Azure Synapse Databases
  • Align with development methodologies to implement and support robust, reliable deployment processes using CI/CD Pipelines in Azure DevOps

Personal Profile, Experience & Skills

  • Extensive experience of Data Visualisation and Reporting using Power BI and paginated reports
  • Extensive experience with SQL databases and data architecture
  • Experience in multidimensional data modelling; star schemas, snowflakes, de-normalised models, handling - slow-changing- dimensions/attributes
  • Experience using Visual Studio
  • Experience in setting up complex ETL processes within SSIS and Azure Data Factory, involving relational and non-relational data
  • Experience with cloud computing and Big Data stacks. Including Azure Synapse and Azure Data Factory, Data lakes etc
  • Exposure to DevOps and Deployments using Arm/Bicep templates
  • Experienced complete lifecycle of at least one data warehouse/Business Intelligence program at enterprise scale
  • Research driven and committed to continuous improvement of solutions.
  • Excellent problem solving and data analysis skills
  • Ability to quickly grasp existing systems, goals and tech
  • Review and propose appropriate solutions to both legacy and evolving architectures/technologies
  • Should possess good communication capabilities, be a team player and self-motivated, results driven, adaptable, inspirational, organised and quality focused
  • Understanding of best standards, security, guidelines etc. and cares about adhering to them.
  • Exposure to Microsoft D365 Finance and Operations/Sales nice to have
