Commercial Estimator

Central Employment is currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Commercial Estimator to join our client's development company covering the North East. As a Commercial Estimator, you will play a crucial role in accurately estimating the costs of commercial construction projects from conception to completion.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with architects, engineers, and project managers to review project plans, specifications, and scope of work.
  • Perform quantity take-offs and cost estimates for commercial construction projects, including office buildings, retail complexes, and industrial facilities.
  • Research and analyze material, labour, and equipment costs for accurate estimations.
  • Prepare detailed and comprehensive bid proposals, cost breakdowns, and construction budgets.
  • Review and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotes to ensure competitiveness and accuracy.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers to gather pricing and availability information.
  • Stay updated on local building codes, regulations, and permit requirements.
  • Participate in pre-construction meetings and site visits to assess project requirements and constraints.
  • Monitor project costs throughout the construction process and identify potential cost-saving opportunities.
  • Prepare change orders and variance reports as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records of cost estimates, budgets, and project documentation.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field.
  • Proven experience as an Estimator in the commercial construction industry.
  • Strong knowledge of commercial construction methods, materials, and building codes.
  • Proficiency in construction estimating software and tools.
  • Excellent analytical and mathematical skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering drawings.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Professional certification (e.g., Certified Professional Estimator) is a plus
