The opportunity:

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Delegated Authority Analyst to join the Markel team in our London office. The Governance & Delegated team at Markel International are responsible for the 1st controls of our International Delegated Authority in respect of underwriting across all divisions and delegated claims covering our Wholesale, State National Global, Global Re and Global Specialty Divisions. In addition we provide assurance from a Product and Underwriting Governance perspective for Wholesale and State National Global divisions.

What you'll be doing:

  • Support the Delegated Authority Manager by undertaking due diligence reviews of cover holders, dealing with referrals from the business whilst complying with all internal policies, procedures and regulatory requirements
  • Ensure any post-bind activities are undertaken efficiently and effectively in your role and the wider team
  • Align and work closely with other members of the Due Diligence team to ensure that delegated authority due diligence covering delegated underwriting and claims is unified, undertaking delegated claims on-boarding activities where directed
  • On-going management of the Service Company Arrangements globally in line with the agreed procedures and standards
  • Review line slip, consortium and master policy arrangements as required
  • Provide insight and support to the cover holder audit team to ensure full cycle reviews of delegated authority business is effective
  • Work closely with the Governance team to ensure that all regulatory requirements for Delegated business are adhered to and evidenced
  • Liaise with the Delegated Operations team to ensure that all bordereaux on cover holder business is of good quality and is received regularly
  • Prepare information for the Delegated groups/committees or other groups as needed
  • Deputise for the Delegated Authority Manager as required
  • Where required, provide administrative assistance and co-ordination support for internal/external audit reviews and other ad-hoc Governance & Delegated projects
  • The above duties and responsibilities are not an exhaustive list and you may be required to undertake any other reasonable duties compatible with your experience and competencies

Our must haves:

  • Previous experience of working in Delegated Authority due diligence
  • Good understanding of Lloyd's and delegated authority requirements
  • Good and effective communicator - open, honest, and respectful
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Willingness to take responsibility and accountability in a collaborative manner,
  • Ability to deliver work on time to a set deadlines
  • Good understanding of Microsoft Office, Word and Excel
  • Effective stakeholder management skills
