What we are looking for:

We are seeking a passionate skilled Chef Manager to lead the team and deliver a professional, forward thinking and customer focussed catering & hospitality service. Reporting to the Executive Chef, you will undertake a wide range of duties associated with a commercial large-scale catering, and hospitality offering and will be fully involved in the full span of food service and delivery including menu planning, food innovation, preparation, and service. Covering two sites situated on the LondonEast-UK business you will bring ideas and innovation to create and deliver great tasing and healthy food offers for breakfast and lunchtime options.

The desired candidate will be a qualified Head Chef within contract catering, or restaurants with a proven track record for offering great food as well as developing food offers through innovation and developing their teams.

Duties:

  • Lead, mentor, and manage the culinary team.
  • Develop and plan menus and daily specials.
  • Create prep lists for the kitchen team members.
  • Manage food costing and inventory.
  • Maintain standards for food storage, rotation, quality, and appearance.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable health codes and regulations.
  • Establish maintenance and cleaning schedules for equipment, storage, and work areas.
  • Participate in the interview process and selection of kitchen staff.
  • Schedule staff and assist in human resources processes as needed.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • C&G 706 1 & 2 in Food Preparation & cookery or NVQ equivalent
  • Food Safety & Hygiene Level 2 (Minimum)
  • Good understanding of health and safety procedures including food allergens and cross contamination principles.
  • Great organisational skills and impeccable time management.
  • Creative and capable of creating dishes that set us apart and keep people coming back for more.
  • Develop and maintain co-operative, positive, effective, supportive working relationships within catering services and with service users. Understand, value, contribute to and actively promote the benefits of teamwork.
  • Promote excellent customer care and promote the 'Customer First' proposition across the service.
  • Confidently provide services that are fair and accessible to all.
  • Challenge existing practices to better.
  • Promote the development of a high-quality customer led service.
  • Comply always with relevant policies, procedures and legislation applicable to the role (such as school policies, BD Group policies, as well as those regarding Data Protection, Equality and Diversity, Health and Safety, Data Protection etc).
  • Understand provisions within Safer Food for Business standards and other relevant service-related regulations and standards
  • An enhanced DBS will be required due to being based within a college kitchen.

Working Arrangements:

  • Working pattern: 36 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
  • Location: Dagenham East.
