Senior Data Quality Steward

The starting salary for this role is £52,047 per annum for working 36 hours per week.

As the Senior Data Quality Steward for our data quality initiatives, you'll be the champion of change, working across the council to lead data quality projects and drive adherence to data governance policies which will enable Surrey County Council to get greater value from its data.

This is a hybrid role, and you will have the option of working from home for some of your week. You will be expected to attend the office when business need requires you to do so; we anticipate this will be about 2 days a week. Many of our staff also work flexibly, including term-time only, so we welcome a conversation as to what might work best for you.

About the Role

Our Data Strategy Programme has made some great progress over the last couple of years and is moving into an important delivery phase.?It's an exciting time to join our dedicated team and be involved in this ambitious transformation as well as transformation programmes across the organisation.

In the role of?Senior Data Quality Steward,?you will work collaboratively with technical leads, project managers and stakeholders across the organisation to build data quality solutions that help them to understand specific data issues, manage data quality as part of their operational activities and understand how issues with process, technology or training contribute to data quality.

The role will have an essential part to play in leading projects that help teams understand the data quality measures that will add value to their service, as well as the importance of undertaking work to address known data quality issues.

Shortlisting Criteria

To be considered for shortlisting for this position, your application will clearly evidence the following:

  • You are a motivated and highly collaborative individual, with experience in one or more of the following roles: Data Steward, Business Analyst, Data Governance Analyst, or within a Data Governance team
  • Significant experience of performing data quality measurement utilising industry standard toolsets e.g. Collibra, Experian, Informatic
  • Ability to identify and understand gaps in business process and facilitate a programme of improvement
  • Experience of working on data migration projects and a solid understanding of the role of data cleansing
  • A good level of knowledge around API development (REStful services) to connect to hosted 3rd party systems, cloud and on-premise applications, as well as be proficient with Python, SQL, and other programming languages for data manipulation as well as data modelling principles
  • Excellent communication skills, ability to build strong relationships across the organisation and work across organisational boundaries and educate and influence those around you on the value of data quality management
