We are recruiting for an experienced Head of Finance (Maternity Cover) to join the bemix team.
Full time, 14 month fixed term contract , starting asap.
Office based in Canterbury with free parking
This is an integral role within a diverse and thriving organisation, which converted from a Community Interest Company to a Charitable Incorporated Organisation in November 2023. This role will see you working closely with our Finance Lead, CEO and external accounting support to manage and oversee the organisation's Finances. The role will be based at our Admin Hub in the Canterbury Innovation Centre where you will work alongside our established administrative and Finance teams.
bemix has several projects across Kent, ranging from a Supported Employment project to Social Enterprises that are all co-produced and co-ran by people with and without learning disabilities and/or Autism. bemix has recently won an exciting new tender, this role will see the successful candidate will be integral in the developmental and strategic management of the finances of the project, whilst ensuring the smooth running of the finances of our existing projects.
Main aim: Strategic leadership and management of the whole charity incorporated organisation (CIO)'s finances. Enable great outcomes for people with learning difficulties and/or autism through strategic planning and maintaining strong, efficient financial controls.
Hours: 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
Location: You will be based in a great office at The Innovation Centre in Canterbury (this is located on the University of Kent site). With great facilities, including free parking, cafe, reliable local transport connections and lovely outside spaces to explore on breaks/lunch/walking supervision.
Salary and benefits: In the range of £35,000-£42,000 per annum, depending on experience. + generous 25 days annual leave plus 8 bank holidays + Contributory Pension Scheme (5% of pay)
If you have ...
- A strong, proven track record as a strategic financial leader and management accountant in a private or third sector SME, with excellent budgeting and cash flow forecasting skills.
- Qualified to ACA or ACCA, or 'qualified by experience'. Details of which are to be shared with bemix in the candidate's application.
- Strong experience of bookkeeping and managing core company accounting functions, including the preparation of statutory accounts.
- Experience of financial leadership in the charities and not-for-profit sector and/or in social care, education or health.
- You can manage competing priorities and pressures confidently and calmly.
- You are reliable and self-motivated which will relieve your line manager of the need to check the progress of agreed tasks.
- Natural communication and great interpersonal skills. You must be able to communicate well, by telephone, email, in person with different types of people, including those with and without learning difficulties and/or autism.
