IT Network Engineer Apprentice

Our global headquarters is in Newmarket, which is the epicentre of the UK's thoroughbred industry.

Overview:
We are now looking for an eager candidate to join us as an apprentice.
The post holder will be primarily responsible for providing 1st line desktop and infrastructure IT support to Godolphin's End User community.
This will include office-based locations and domestic property locations supported by the UK IT Department.

The successful candidate is expected to embrace continuous development and this role will involve studying towards a high-level apprenticeship (likely to be Level 4 or above).
This role is based at our Main Office Headquarters in Newmarket, Suffolk.

Key tasks: [will include but not be limited to:]

  • Provide 1st line IT support to approximately 300+ users
  • Respond to helpdesk tickets in a timely manner
  • Escalate unresolved tickets as appropriate
  • Provide desk side desktop support to End Users
  • Provide remote desktop support to End Users on other sites
  • Production of standardised builds for PC's and laptops
  • Provide support for printers, mobile phones, and other hardware

Desirable skills & Personal qualities:

  • Effective planning, organising and prioritising skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, at all levels of the organisation

Essential:
Having a full driving licence and your own vehicle is required - as the role involves travel to different sites
- Able to travel within the UK and Ireland as required
- Flexible - occasional weekend and out of hours work as required

Desired experience & background:

  • Exposure to desktop PC hardware and support in a LAN/WAN environment
  • Exposure to virtualisation technology
  • Exposure to SAN technology
  • Experience of Microsoft Windows Desktop and Server Operating Systems
  • Experience of Microsoft business applications and software
  • Experience of PC and server hardware and peripherals

Entry requirements:

  • an A-Level in ICT
  • OR an International Baccalaureate at Level 3 ICT
  • OR an A-Level 3 apprenticeship in a similar subject
  • OR a BTEC Extended Diploma in IT (180 credits)

You may also have a combination of qualifications and experience which demonstrate the minimum foundation needed for the programme. In this instance you could still be considered for the programme.

If you hold international equivalents of the above qualifications, at the time of your application you must be able to provide an official document that states how your international qualifications compare to the UK qualifications.
